Shirley was Peter's first acting debut.  The series didn't last long, but it didn't take the network to see the raw talent Peter had.  The network quickly signed Peter for his very own show, The Powers of Matthew Star, and shortly after the expiration of Shirley, Peter was on his way to stardom.
